Most of you probably know that February is also commonly know as Black History Month–a month in which we honor the achievements and significance of African Americans in our past and present .
A little fun fact about Black History Month:
Black History Month actually originated in 1926 as Negro History Weekand was recognized by renowned historian Carter G. Woodson. The second week of February was dedicated to this holiday in recognition of two Americans who had great influence in the African American community: good ‘ole Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass.
The influence of African Americans in our culture today is HUGE! From sports to art to politics to food–it is everywhere. Here is a beautiful video in honor of the wonderful African Americans who have touched our lives so greatly. Enjoy!
